E.g., a compn. contg. I 22.1, 5,5-dimethylhydantoin (to increase soly.) 14.4, Na tripolyphosphate 10.00, NaCl 50.0, and hexadecyl sulfonate 3.5% wt. was an effective detergent at 0.2-0.5% wt. on a variety of surfaces. The compn. had LD50 of 2850 mg/kg for rats and at 2 g/L it dissolved in H2O within 10 s to the extent of 97% (in terms of active Cl), forming no film on the surface of the soln. or the side of the vessel.

Cattle fed rumensin were more efficient than those fed without rumensin in most comparisons. Addn. of Hydan improved gains in only one test. There were no significant differences (P<.05) in carcass characteristics due to treatment.
