DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 17 (Food and Feed Chemistry) Detn. of residual sulfisoxazol (SFX) [127-69-5], sulfamonomethoxine (SMM) [1220-83-3], sulfadimethoxine (SDM) [122-11-2], and sulfaquinoxaline (SQX) [59-40-5] in chicken tissues and egg by high-performance liq. chromatog. was investigated. A dried sample was homogenized with CHCl3-HOAc and the antibacterials in the suspension were extd. with 3N HCl.Several substances with their cas registry numbers 127-69-5 and 122-11-2 may be metioned in this study. After adjustment of the acidity, the soln. was injected into a SEP-PAK C18 cartridge. Sulfonamides were eluted with MeOH from the cartridge. The residue after evapn. was dissolved in a mixt. of MeOH and a buffer soln. and chromatographed on a LiChrosorb RP-18 column eluted with a mixt. of MeOH and a buffer soln. The recoveries of sulfonamides added to chicken muscle, liver, and egg ranged from 77 to 103%. The detection limit was 0.005 ppm for SFX, SMM, SDM, and SQX. .

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacodynamics) The max. concn. of sulfamonomethoxine (I) [1220-83-3] in blood and organs of rats following its oral administration at 100-200 mg/kg occurred in 3-6 h. Max. I levels were reached in 0.5-1 h after i.m. administration of its N-methylglucamine salt (II) [53607-04-8]. Max. concns. of I in rats following i.m. administration of 100 mg II/kg were 2-3 times higher than after oral administration of I. When the dose was increased to 200 mg/kg, the concn. of I in the animals was 1.5-2.5 times higher after i.m. than after oral administration. I levels in tissues were obsd. up to 18-24 h after oral administration but only 3-18 h after i.m. administration.
