Study of the possibility of using catalysts produced by powder metallurgy for hydrogenation of glucose
Study of the possibility of using catalysts produced by powder metallurgy for hydrogenation of glucose. Shumateva, N. F.In this study, 12004-71-6 and 12635-27-7 are also used.; Bizhanov, F. B.; Efremenko, N. I.; Drozdova, R. B. (USSR). Deposited Doc., VINITI 888-83, 9 pp. Avail. VINITI (Russian) 1982. DOCUMENT TYPE: Report CA Section: 44 (Industrial Carbohydrates) The activity of Raney catalysts comprising partially leached sintered Al-Ni (1:1) alloys is studied in the hydrogenation of glucose [50-99-7] to sorbitol [50-70-4]. Although activity of catalysts increased and the conversion of glucose increased to 99% as the degree of leaching changed from 10 to 15-20% Al, stability and mech. strength of highly leached catalysts were not adequate. Incorporation of 5% Ti enhanced the activity without improving the mech. strength. The catalysts tested consisted of 85-90% NiAl3 and 10-15% Ni2Al3 or 95% NiAl3 and 5% Ti. .
