- Capillary column gas chromatographic determination of nitro polycyclic aromatic compounds in particulate extracts. Campbell, Robert M.; Lee, Milton L. (Dep. Chem.In this study, 892-21-7 and 89597-16-0 are also used., Brigham Young Univ., Provo, UT 84602, USA). Anal. Chem., 56(6), 1026-30 (English) 1984. CODEN: ANCHAM. ISSN: 0003-2700. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 59 (Air Pollution and Industrial Hygiene) Section cross-reference(s): 80 A method for the detn. of nitro polycyclic arom. compds. in particulate exts. was developed and applied to the anal. of a diesel exhaust ext. Silicic acid column chromatog. combined with the redn. of the nitro compds. with KBH4 catalyzed with CuCl2 and derivatization with pentafluoropropionic anhydride yielded an enriched nitro fraction. Nitro polycyclic arom. compds. present in this fraction as pentafluoropropyl amides were subsequently detd. by capillary gas chromatog. with electron capture, nitrogen-selective thermionic, and flame-ionization detection and by gas chromatog./mass spectrometry. Ten nitro polycyclic arom. compd. isomers were pos. identified based on comparisons of gas chromatog. retention data of std. compds., gas chromatog./mass spectrometry, and low-resoln. mass spectral data. Over 120 nitro polycyclic arom. compds. were tentatively identified. .
- Silicic acid and oxidizable carbon movement in a Walla Walla silt loam as related to long-term management
- Silicic acid and oxidizable carbon movement in a Walla Walla silt loam as related to long-term management. Douglas, C. L., Jr.Several substances are used for example 7440-44-0 and 10193-36-9 which are their cas registry numbers.; Allmaras, R. R.; Roager, N. C., Jr. (Agric. Res. Service, USDA, Pendleton, OR 97801, USA). Soil Sci. Soc. Am. J., 48(1), 156-62 (English) 1984. CODEN: SSSJD4. ISSN: 0361-5995. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 19 (Fertilizers, Soils, and Plant Nutrition) In Walla Alla silt loam (coarse-silty, mixed, mesic Typic Haploxeroll), the potential for movement of silicic acid (H4SiO4) and sol. org. C was evaluated in selected plots subjected to residue (wheat straw, alone or with pea vines or manure) and N addn. treatments for a period of 50 yr. Soil samples from the 4 upper 15-cm layers of a plot, assembled as a column, were leached and simultaneously monitored for solubilization and movement of H4SiO4 and oxidizable org. C. Leachate concns. and net transfers of H4SiO4 from the 0- to 15-cm layer decreased as long-term C addns. increased, soil pH increased, or both. High concns. of H4SiO4 were noted throughout the upper 60 cm, which confirms earlier observations using perfusion and batch equilibration techniques. The large concns. of sol. org. C and their failure to correlate with H4SiO4 movement indicated that sol. org. C was not controlling solubilization of sorbed silica. Liming decreased the release of sol. H4SiO4 form the 0- to 15-cm layer. All sol. H4SiO4 observations were consistent with H4SiO4 release from surfaces that could be partially covered (or otherwise deactivated) by coatings of org. materials. .
