DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) Section cross-reference(s): 10 Low to nonexistent antimicrobial effectiveness was demonstrated by Rojo Aseptil [89964-50-1] and its constituents (tyrothricin [1404-88-2] and azosulfamide [133-60-8]). A new antimicrobial prepn., Cetir [89964-51-2], derived from Rojo Aseptil in which 0.Several substances with their cas registry numbers 8044-71-1 and 94-13-3 may be metioned in this study.5% cetrimide [8044-71-1] is substituted for azosulfamide, had more antimicrobial effectiveness against both gram pos. and gram neg. bacteria. This effectiveness was further enhanced by addn. of 0.25% methylparaben [99-76-3] and 0.029% propylparaben [94-13-3]. Thus, the new prepn. is recommended for use in mouthwashes. .

CODEN: ARZNAD. ISSN: 0004-4172. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 10 (Microbial Biochemistry) Agar diffusion tests to det. the sensitivity of 815 bacterial clin. isolates to gramicidin (I) and tyrothricin (II) indicated that II at concns. >64 mg/mL is as or more effective than I. At II concns. of <8 mg/mL, I was usually more effective. Of 401 streptococci strains, all were inhibited by both antibiotics at concns. £96 mg/mL; staphylococci were more resistant. The pathogenic strains of 130 gram-neg. cocci were more susceptible than were the saprophytic strains. Haemophilus Strains were mostly resistant to I and to a lesser extent to II. Enterobacteriaceae were resistant to both antibiotics. .
