- Anticoccidial drugs: Effects on infectivity and survival intracellularly of Eimeria tenella sporozoites. McDougald, L. R.; Galloway, R. B. (Lilly Res. Lab., Eli Lilly and Co., Greenfield, Indiana, USA). Exp. Parasitol., 40(3), 314-19 (English) 1976.Some commonly used reagents like 148-01-6 and 330-95-0 are used in this experiment. CODEN: EXPAAA. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacodynamics) Treatment of freshly excysted, extracellular sporozoites of E. tenella for 18 h with monensin [17090-79-8], decoquinate [18507-89-6] or robenidine [25875-51-8] at 100 ppm had no effect on oocyst prodn. 7-10 days after the sporozoites were rinsed free of drugs and fed to chickens. Treatment of cultures of E. tenella in chick kidney cell monolayers with monensin (0.001 .mu.g/ml), decoquinate (0.01 .mu.g/ml), zoalene [148-01-6] (2.0 .mu.g/ml), or robenidine (0.01 .mu.g/ml) had no effect on intracellular sporozoites at 4 h following introduction of sporozoites and drugs into the culture. A significant redn. of intracellular parasites occurred at 24 h in the cultures treated with monensin or zoalene. Remaining intracellular sporozoites in monensin-treated cultures were morphol. abnormal or degenerate, while sporozoites in other cultures appeared normal. The number and condition of sporozoites in the nontreated cultures were unchanged at 24 h postinoculation. These results indicate that sporozoites undergo changes subsequent to penetration of host cells that render them susceptible to drug action. .

- Evaluation of anticoccidial activity of Decoquinate and Robenidine in Dokki 4 chicks. El-Gendi, A. Y. I.; Hassan, A. B.; Rawheya, M. Dogheim; Ferial, A. Soliman (Fac. Vet. Med., Cairo Univ., Egypt). Egypt. J. Vet. Sci., Volume Date 1982, 19(1-2), 33-45 (English) 1983. CODEN: EJVSAU. ISSN: 0301-8199. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) Infection of Dokki 4 chicks with 40,000 Eimeria tenella oocysts decreased erythrocyte count, packed cell vol., and Hb concn., but increased leukocyte count. Supplementation of Decoquinate [18507-89-6] and Robenidine [25875-51-8] in the feed of E. tenella-infected Dokki 4 chicks caused a significant redn. in the daily oocyst count. Moreover, the treatments improved the blood values, increased Ca2+ and decreased Mg2+, but did not affect P levels in the serum. Chicks receiving Robenidine for 6 mo had atrophied testes and ovaries. 25875-51-8 and 7439-95-4 are just another two chemicals used in this study. Chicks fed Decoquinate for 6 mo had normal gonads. .
