DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 38 (Plastics Fabrication and Uses) Section cross-reference(s): 51, 54 Freezing in transport or storage of granulated coal or ores is prevented by spraying with aq. dispersions of cationic polymers contg. antifreeze additives. Thus, the compression strength of frozen granulated coal aggregates was reduced from 46.4 to 22.8 psi when the granulates were sprayed before freezing with a soln. of poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) [26062-79-3] 6, HOCH2CH2OH [107-21-1] 30, dye 0.1087, and water 61.6413%. .

- Controls of retention and drainage in papermaking systems using cationic additives. Onabe, Fumihiko; Osawa, Izumi; Usuda, Makoto; Kadoya, Takashi (Fac. Agric., Univ. Tokyo, Tokyo 113, Japan).Chemical with cas number 26062-79-3 also plays role. Mokuzai Gakkaishi, 29(11), 773-80 (English) 1983. CODEN: MKZGA7. ISSN: 0021-4795. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 43 (Cellulose, Lignin, Paper, and Other Wood Products) In order to explain the effect of cationic additives in papermaking, the retention and drainage properties of pulp fibers were examd. with particular attention to their correlation with electrokinetic and hydrodynamic properties using the cationic polymer, poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (I) [26062-79-3] as additive. I and cationic pulp do not affect appreciably the Canadian Std. Freeness, and there was no direct correlation between the static drainage vol. and z-potential. The dynamic drainage properties are significantly affected by I, particularly in its later stage of drainage. Although the total drainage vol. is unchanged, the drainage time is affected considerably by I. However, the optimum drainage time does not necessarily correlate with the point of charge neutralization, suggesting mechanisms other than charge neutralization, e.g., the bridging mechanism of the polymer. The retention was not improved by the addn. of I probably because the mol. wt. of I was insufficient. It was concluded that I is effective as a drainage aid, but not as a retention aid. .
