DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 62 (Essential Oils and Cosmetics) The antidandruff activity of active material-contg. shampoo formulations was compared to that of the shampoo formulations contg. no active ingredient. The basic formulation comprised fatty alc. ether sulfate (neutralized) 40.0, betaine 4.0, coco fatty acid diethanolamide 3.0, pearly substance 5.0, preservatives, and water to 100%. The shampoos were evaluated on wet combability, foam-forming capacity, dry combability, luster of the hair, antistatic properties of hair, and other properties. The formulation with 0.6% pyrithione disulfide [3696-28-4] showed the best properties and decreased dandruff considerably and was superior to the formulation contg. 0.5% piroctone olamine [68890-66-4]. Also, the combination of 0.2% pyrithione disulfide and 7% di-Na undecylenic acid monoethanolamidosulfosuccinate [26650-05-5] was a weak antidandruff agent.
