DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 37 (Plastics Manufacture and Processing) Section cross-reference(s): 38 Polyurethane foams, having improved breathability, are prepd. by reacting an org. polyisocyanate and polyol in the presence of a blowing agent, as cell stabilizer and catalyst compn., employ a blowing catalyst consisting of 25-80 wt.% pentamethyldiethylenetriamine (I) and 20-75 wt.% bis(dimethylaminopropyl)methylamine (II). Thus, a polyurethane foam formulation comprising Multranol 9143 75, Multranol 9151 25, diethanolamine 1.5, silicone surfactant 1.75, H2O 4.2 wt. parts, and toluene diisocyanate (102 index) was mixed with 0.36 wt.% Dabco 33-LV, 0.074 wt.% I, and 0.168 wt.% II, heated isothermally in a mold at 60°, demolded, crushed, and pulsed-cured to give a polyurethane foam showing d. 1.65 lb/ft3 and air flow 2.73 ft3/min, compared with 1.68 and 1.92, resp., for a similar foam manufd. without II. .
