In both species, gravistimulation induces polar movement of Ca across the root tip from the upper side to the lower side. Roots of onion (Allium cepa) are not responsive to gravity and gravistimulation induces little or no polar movement of Ca across the root tip. Treatment of maize or pea roots with inhibitors of auxin transport (morphactin [467-69-6], naphthylphthalamic acid [132-66-1], 2,3,5-triiodobenzoic acid [88-82-4]) prevents both gravitropism and gravity-induced polar movement of Ca across the root tip. Thus, Ca movement and auxin movement are closely linked in roots and the gravity-induced redistribution of Ca across the root cap may play an important role in the development of gravitropic curvature.

HCO2H-preserved alfalfa, clover, broad bean, and clover cut with the stubble of cover crop contained 4, 4, 8, and 23 mg I/kg silage. Of 12 samples of milk from cows fed Silko-preserved silage, 9 were neg., and 3 contained 1, 0.2, and 0.2 mg I/L. Of 6 herbicides Terbutrin [886-50-0] was free of I, whereas Aminex [2039-46-5], MCPA [94-74-6], Dicamba [1918-00-9], Flurenol [467-69-6], and Purivel [19937-59-8] contained 0.40, 0.12, 0.47, 0.80, and 0.05% I, resp. Formulations of Aminex, Amiten (MCPA + Dicamba + Flurenol) [75199-96-1] and Dikogen (MCPA + Terbutrin) [51248-63-6] contained 83, 462, and 68 mg I/kg active ingredient, showing that nitrosation, probably by air-NOx, occurs already before application. .
