DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) Thiopronine [1953-02-2], a mucolytic drug, had no effect on the stability of cephaloridine [50-59-9] or cefuroxime [55268-75-2] in aq. solns. Ampicillin [69-53-4], not very stable in aq. soln., was extremely unstable in solns. contg thiopronine. Flucloxacillin (I) [5250-39-5], very stable in aq. soln., was relatively unstable in the presence of thiopronine. Thiopronine stability was not affected by the antibiotics. Rate consts. are tabulated. .

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) Pharmacokinetic evaluations of cloxacillin [61-72-3] and dicloxacillin [3116-76-5] in man were performed by detailed investigations of the urinary excretion profiles of the unchanged form and 3 metabolites (penicilloic acid, 5-hydroxymethyl deriv., and penicilloic acid of the 5-hydroxymethyl deriv.). The last metabolite was newly found in human urine. The time course curves for excretion of unchanged form and the metabolites were measured by high performance liq. chromatog. of urine excreted after oral administration of cloxacillin and dicloxacillin to human subjects. 88070-76-2 and 66-79-5 are also in the experiment. The values of cumulative excretion amt. at infinite time and of mean residence time (MRT) for each species were estd. by moment anal. of excretion rate vs. time curves. The metabolic pathways of cloxacillin and dicloxacillin were assessed, and the transfer ratio at each elimination step and the MRT value intrinsic to each metabolite were evaluated from the results of moments. On the basis of these and the previous results for oxacillin [66-79-5] and flucloxacillin [5250-39-5], the pharmacokinetic features of 4 isoxazolylpenicillins are compared in terms of statistical moments. The bioavailability and activity of these drugs and metabolites are compared. .
