DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemicals) The morphogenetic response (percentage adult abnormalities) obsd. after treating S. littoralis pupae with insect hormones varied with the pupal age at the treatment. The finding was valid for both insecticide-resistant (matacil, endrin, and fenitrothion) and insecticide-sensitive strains. The hormones tested were AY 22342 [23314-84-3] and/or ecdysterone [5289-74-7]. In some expts., the hormones were synergized with piperonyl butoxide [51-03-6]. In the sensitive strain, ecdysterone caused max. response when applied to 2-day-old pupae. In the fenitrothion-resistant strain, the max. response was 6-day-old pupae.

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemicals) Oral administration of ecdysones isolated from Ajuga ciliata [contg. .beta.-ecdysone (I) [5289-74-7] and ajugasterone A (II) [18069-14-2]] at 3 .mu.g/larva to B. mori during the last larval instar stage shortened the feeding period. Ecdysones (2 .times. 4 .mu.g/larva) administered at 10 h prior to the larval maturity shortened the feeding period and the moulting time. When administered at the early stage of last larval instar (24 h after the 4th moult), ecdysones produced a 4-17% increase in silk prodn.
