DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacodynamics) Section cross-reference(s): 3 T-1220 [59703-84-3] had a broad antibacterial spectrum against gram-pos. and -neg. bacteria. It was more active than other penicillins against gram-neg. bacteria, esp. Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus species, and Serratia marcescens. Serum levels showed a dose-response relation, and the half life was ~0.6 h. T-1220 was excreted mainly by the kidneys, mostly as the unchanged form. Binding to serum was 20-30%. The rate of effectiveness in clin. cases in the fields of internal medicine, pediatrics, dermatol., surgery, and oral surgery was 73.2%. Side effects were obsd. in 47 of 1266 cases, but no severe side effects occurred. The side effects were mainly eruption, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
