- Pharmacologic aspects of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia. Bratlid, Dag (Inst. Med. Biol., Univ. Tromsoe, Tromsoe, Norway). Birth Defects, Orig. Artic. Ser., 12(2), 184-91 (English) 1976. CODEN: BTHDAK. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacodynamics) Propicillin (I) [551-27-9], sulfisoxazole [127-69-5], cloxacillin [61-72-3], and novobiocin [303-81-1] were effective in displacing bilirubin [635-65-4] from neonatal albumins at pH 7.4 in vitro. Reducing the pH from 7.4 to 6.8 resulted in a marked potentiation of the displacing activity of various drugs. On the other hand, there was a relationship between the protein binding of the drugs and the extent to which they were displaced from albumin by bilirubin. For example, the free fraction of cloxacillin (about 94% protein bound) was increased by almost 100% when 200 .mu.In this experiment, several chemicals are used like 68-35-9 and 57-92-1 M bilirubin was present. The free fraction of the less strongly bound benzylpenicillin [61-33-6] (about 54% protein bound) was increased by 30%, whereas that of ampicillin [69-53-4] (18% protein bound) was not significantly affected. .
- Rational choice of penicillins and cephalosporins based on parallel in-vitro and in-vivo tests
- Rational choice of penicillins and cephalosporins based on parallel in-vitro and in-vivo tests. Selwyn, Sydney (Dep. Bacteriol., Westminister Med. Sch., London, Engl.). Lancet, 2(7986), 616-18 (English) 1976. CODEN: LANCAO. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacodynamics) Min. bactericidal concns. of cloxacillin [61-72-3], flucloxacillin [5250-39-5], cephalothin [153-61-7], and cephazolin [25953-19-9] in serum were much higher than conventional min. inhibitory concns. in the absence of serum. Cephalexin [15686-71-2] and cephradine [38821-53-3] showed the smallest divergence in these values. Staph. aureus .beta.-lactamase caused least damage to methicillin [61-32-5] and cephradine, whereas enzymes from Escherichia, Klebsiella, and Bacillus cereus had least effect against cephradine followed by cephalexin. There are some commonly used reagents with their cas registry numbers 5250-39-5 and 25953-19-9 in this article. In mice with exptl. bacterial infections expts., highly protein-bound antibiotics had relatively low efficacy. Cephradine had the highest mean activity followed closely by cephaloridine [50-59-9] and cephalexin. From the data, cephradine was the cephalosporin of choice, and firm decisions were also made about the choice of penicillins. .
