Applied Catalysis, A: General, 150(1), 77-84 (English) 1997 Elsevier. CODEN: ACAGE4. ISSN: 0926-860X. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 22 (Physical Organic Chemistry) Section cross-reference(s): 67 The direct synthesis of alkenylaroms. during catalytic transfer redn. (CTR) of aralkyl ketones with iso-Pr alc. over MgO of enhanced acidity has been investigated. Magnesia was successfully modified with H2SO4 and H3PO4.There are some commonly used reagents with their cas registry numbers 645-13-6 and 873-66-5 in this article. The studied ketones, acetophenone, 4-isopropylacetophenone, propiophenone, and 5-nonanone, were quant. transformed to alkenes under the adopted conditions. A long-time stability of the catalysts activity and reaction selectivity has been demonstrated. .
