- Effects of antibiotics on the in vitro ERG (I). Investigation of penicillins on the albino rabbit eye-cup. Ohnogi, Junji (Sch. Med., Kanazawa Univ., Kanazawa 920, Japan). Juzen Igakkai Zasshi, 95(3), 468-80 (Japanese) 1986. CODEN: JUZIAG. ISSN: 0022-7226. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) The effects of penicillin G K (PC-G K) [113-98-4], PC-G Na [69-57-8], cloxacillin Na (MCIPC) [642-78-4] and diNa sulbenicillin (SBPC) [28002-18-8] on the retinal activity of the albino rabbit were studied. The posterior half of the eye-cup, consisting of the retina, choroid and sclera, was mounted between 2 chambers (the vitreal and scleral chambers) and perfused with Nagayma's soln. The b-wave and oscillatory potentials (OPs) were unchanged by 0.1 mM PC-G K or PC-G Na. The OPs were slightly suppressed by 0.3 mM of either drug. The a-wave, b-wave and c-wave were not deteriorated by 1.0 mM concn. The effect of PC-G on the ERG was characterized by a selective suppression of the OPs. The b-wave and OPs were not suppressed by 0.03 mM MCIPC. They were slightly suppressed by 0.05 mM MCIPC. The a-wave, b-wave, OPs, and c-wave were not hurt by 1.0 mM SBPC. The b-wave and OPs and c-wave were not hurt by 1.0 mM SBPC. The b-wave and OPs were suppressed by 3.0 mM or 6. 113-98-4 and 1406-05-9 which are cas registry numbers are also used here.0 mM SBPC, resp. These changes appeared to be dose-dependent. Since the b-wave and OPs were concomitantly suppressed by both MCIPC and SBPC, these antibiotics, unlike PC-G, did not selectively suppress the OPs. The above-described changes of the ERG were reversible. The min. concn. affecting the ERG was tentatively defined as the mean of the min. concn. needed to change the ERG and the max. concn. which did not induce discernible changes in the ERG. The min. concn. affecting the ERG for PC-G, MCIPC and SBPC were 0.2 mM, 0.04 mM and 2.0 mM, resp. The min. concn. affecting the ERG for SPC (2.0 mM, approx. 920 mg/mL) was higher than its min. inhibitory concn. against Staphylococcus, Streptococcus and Pseudomonas. .
- Immunochemical studies of penicillin
- Immunochemical studies of penicillin. I. Specificity of antibodies against indanyl-carbenicillin and other derivatives. Revoltella, Roberto; Bertolini, Luisa (Lab. Cell Biol., CNR, Rome, Italy). Antibiotica, 14(1), 14-46 (English/Italian) 1976. CODEN: ATIBA8. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacodynamics) Section cross-reference(s): 15 Two radioimmunoassay procedures are described for detn. of penicillins in body fluids and tissues. The max. blood level of Na indanylcarbenicillin (I) [26605-68-5] in rabbits, detd. by radioimmunoassay, occurred 5 h after i.p. injection; the level fell to a const. value within 20 h of injection, and plasma protein binding of I increased to 60% of the total I. Na benzylpenicillin [69-57-8] was much more rapidly resorbed into the blood and eliminated. Tissue uptake of I was greatest in the kidneys, spleen, and liver. The specificity of antibodies to I and benzylpenicillin conjugated to bovine .gamma.-globulin or bovine serum albumin was detd.
