DOCUMENT TYPE: Conference CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) Section cross-reference(s): 9 In isolated gastric mucosal surface and glandular cells, salicylate [69-72-7] did not have any membraneolytic activity, whereas taurocholate [81-24-3] had membraneolytic activity, esp. on the surface cells. The use of isolated gastric mucosal cells to study stomach mucosa is discussed.

(Sch. Med., Univ. Manchester, Salford M6 8HD, UK). Mech. Mucosal Prot. Upper Gastrointest. Tract, 119-23. Edited by: Allen, Adrian. Raven: New York, N. Y. (English) 1984. CODEN: 50WXA8. DOCUMENT TYPE: Conference CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) Section cross-reference(s): 2 In healthy volunteers, stomach secretion of HCO3- was obsd. Damaging drugs such as aspirin [50-78-2] and taurocholate [81-24-3] inhibited HCO3- secretion. PGE2 [363-24-6], although not stimulating basal alkali prodn., prevented its inhibition by topical application of aspirin and taurocholate. The role of HCO3- secretion in mucosal protection is discussed.
