DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 4 (Toxicology) Metabolites of hydroxyzine (I) [68-88-2] in urine of a male subject who attempted suicide by introducing exhaust gas into his car after drinking sake and taking I were detd. by gas chromatog.-mass spectroscopy. The metabolites were identified as 4-chlorodiphenylmethane (II) [831-81-2], p-chlorbenzophenone [134-85-0], norchlorcyclizine [303-26-4], III [95088-21-4], IV [95088-22-5], V [95088-23-6], and VI [95088-24-7]. II, III, IV, V and VI have not been reported previously.

The structures of those compds. were assigned to 4-chlorodiphenylmethane (II) [831-81-2], p-chlorbenzophenone (III) [134-85-0], norchlorcyclizine (IV) [303-26-4], 7-(p-chloro-a-phenylbenzyl)-2-hydroxy-2H,3H-oxazolo-[3,2-a]piperazi ne (V) [95088-21-4], 1-(p-chloro-a-phenylbenzyl)-4-methylpiperazine-3-one (VI) [95088-22-5], N-(p-chloro-a-phenylbenzyl)-N-formylmethyl-N'-hydroxyethyl-1,2-eth enediamine (VII) [95088-23-6] and 1-(p-chloro-a-phenylbenzyl)-4-[2-ethoxy(2-ethoxy)ethyl]piperazine (VIII) [95088-24-7] on the basis of the fragmentation patterns and relative retention times except VIII which was identified using the synthesized compd. II, V, VI, VII, and VIII have not been reported previously, but the possibility of metabolites of hydroxyzine is still uncertain. .
