1,2,4-Triazolopyridin-3-thiol on reaction with methyl acrylate and triethylamine affords methyl 3-(1,2,4-triazolopyridin-3-ylthio)propionate (1).Compound 1 is converted into the acid hydrazide (2) by reaction with hydrazine hydrate.The acid hydrazide (2) on heating with substituted acid chlorides gets converted directly into 3a-e.This reaction sequence has also been extended to 1,2,4-triazoloquinolin-3-thiol.
