A self-photocatalyzed sulfonylation/cyclization of quinazolinones containing unactivated alkenes with various sulfonyl chlorides was developed. The protocol provides access to sulfonyl radicals via energy transfer from the quinazolinone skeleton to the sulfonyl chloride.
