General Description

1,2-Dibromo-1-chloro-1,2,2-trifluoroethane is a chemical compound that is commonly used as a refrigerant and as a solvent for cleaning electronic equipment. It is also known by its trade name, Halon 123. 1,2-Dibromo-1-chloro-1,2,2-trifluoroethane is a colorless, heavy liquid with a slightly sweet odor, and it is highly volatile. It is also non-flammable, making it a popular choice for fire extinguishing agents. However, it has been found to be an ozone-depleting substance and has been largely phased out of use due to its harmful effects on the environment.
