Usage

General Description

Coagulation Factor VII, also known as Proconvertin, is a glycoprotein enzyme that plays a crucial role in the clotting process. It is a key component of the extrinsic pathway of the coagulation cascade and is responsible for the activation of Factor X and the initiation of the coagulation process. Factor VII is produced in the liver and circulates in the blood as an inactive zymogen. In the presence of tissue factor, it is activated to its active form, Factor VIIa, which then forms a complex with tissue factor and activates Factor X. Deficiency or dysfunction of Factor VII can lead to a bleeding disorder known as Factor VII deficiency. It is used as a medication to treat or prevent bleeding in patients with congenital Factor VII deficiency or as replacement therapy during surgical procedures.
