1,3,2-Diazaphospholenes can be oxidized by air oxygen under mild conditions. The reactions proceed by a radical mechanism. From 2-alkyl-1,3,2-diazaphospholenes oxodiazaphospholenes were obtained. Reaction of 1,3-dibutyl-2-ethoxy-4,5-dimethyl-1,3,2-diazaphospholene with oxygen leads to formation of 3-butyl-2-butylimino-2-ethoxy-1,3,2λ5-oxazaphospholene.
