12-Tungstophosphoric acid supported on aerosil silica and silica-coated γ-Fe2O3 nanoparticles was prepared and characterized using transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy. The catalytic activity of the two prepared catalysts was compared in the synthesis of 1,8-dioxo-9,10- diaryldecahydroacridines in water. 12-Tungstophosphoric acid was highly dispersed on the silica-coated γ-Fe2O3 nanoparticles and showed higher activity and a higher reuse number compared with the acid supported on aerosil silica. The catalyst could be recovered simply by using an external magnetic field and could be reused several times without appreciable loss of its catalytic activity.

- Introduction of a trinuclear manganese(iii) catalyst on the surface of magnetic cellulose as an eco-benign, efficient and reusable novel heterogeneous catalyst for the multi-component synthesis of new derivatives of xanthene
-
In this work, the new trinuclear manganese catalyst defined as Fe3O4@NFC@NNSM-Mn(iii) was successfully manufactured and fully characterized by different techniques, including FT-IR, XRD, TEM, SEM, EDX, VSM, and ICP analysis. There have been reports of the use of magnetic catalysts for the synthesis of xanthine derivatives. The critical potential interest in the present method include short reaction time, high yields, recyclability of the catalyst, easy workup, and the ability to sustain a variety of functional groups, which give economical as well as ecological rewards. Also, the synthesized catalyst was used as a recyclable trinuclear catalyst in alcohol oxidation reactions at 40 °C. The magnetic catalyst activity of Fe3O4@NFC@NNSM-Mn(iii) could be attributed to the synergistic effects of the catalyst Fe3O4@NFC@NNS-Mn(iii) with melamine. Employing a sustainable and safe low temperature, using an eco-friendly solvent, no need to use any additive, and long-term stability and magnetic recyclability of the catalyst for at least six successive runs are the advantages of the current protocol towards green chemistry. This protocol is a benign, environmentally friendly method for heterocycle synthesis. This journal is

ZnO nanorod-decorated graphene oxide (GO/ZnO), containing Lewis and Bronsted acid centers, was introduced as a selective, highly efficient and recoverable nanocatalyst for the pseudo three-component synthesis of diverse tetraketone or xanthenedione derivatives via condensation of aromatic aldehydes with 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds in short reaction times and good to excellent yields in H2O under refluxing and solvent-free conditions, respectively. Moreover, the GO/ZnO nanocomposite was recovered and reused at least four times without a significant decrease in its activity. Low loading of the catalyst, high to excellent yields, the elimination of any toxic heavy metals or corrosive reagents for modification of the catalyst, simple separation and purification of the products, and the reusability of the catalyst are the most significant advantages of this green protocol. Cu(NO3)2 supported on natural phosphate, Cu(ii)/NP, was prepared by co-precipitation and applied as a heterogeneous catalyst for synthesizing xanthenes (2-3 h, 85-97%) through Knoevenagel-Michael cascade reaction of aromatic aldehydes with 1,3-cyclic diketones in ethanol under refluxing conditions. It was further used for regioselective synthesis of 1,4-disubstituted-1,2,3-triazoles (1-25 min, 95-99%) via a three-component reaction between organic halides, aromatic alkynes and sodium azide in methanol at room temperature. The proposed catalyst, Cu(ii)/NP, was characterized using X-ray fluorescence, X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller, Barrett-Joyner-Halenda and inductively coupled plasma analyses. Compared to other reports in literature, the reactions took place through a simple co-precipitation, having short reaction time (85%), and high recyclability of catalyst (>5 times) without significant decrease in the inherent property and selectivity of catalyst. The proposed protocols provided significant economic and environmental advantages.

- Ruthenium anchored on multi-walled carbon nanotubes: an efficient and reusable catalyst for the synthesis of xanthenes
-
A novel and highly efficient ruthenium-based catalyst was synthesized by immobilizing Ru(CO)4 onto functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes. The catalyst was characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray analysis, diffuse reflectance UV–Vis spectrophotometry, inductively coupled plasma and elemental analysis. This heterogeneous catalyst was successfully applied in the multi-component synthesis of various xanthene derivatives in good to excellent yields (28 samples, up to 96?% yield) under reflux condition and ultrasonic irradiation. The prepared catalyst was recovered four times without appreciable loss of activity.

- Nano-zirconia as an excellent nano support for immobilization of sulfonic acid: A new, efficient and highly recyclable heterogeneous solid acid nanocatalyst for multicomponent reactions
-
Nano-zirconia-supported sulfonic acid [nano-ZrO2-SO3H (n-ZrSA)] is synthesized by immobilizing sulfonic acid groups on the surface of nano zirconium dioxide to produce a novel heterogeneous reusable solid acid nanocatalyst. This new nanocatalyst is characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), the Hammett acidity function and pH analysis. The introduced nano-zirconia-supported sulfonic acid is used as an efficient and recyclable catalyst for different heterocyclic multicomponent reactions such as the synthesis of hexahydroquinoline, 1,8-dioxo-decahydroacridine, polyhydroquinoline and 1,8-dioxo-octahydroxanthene derivatives. Optimization of the reaction conditions was studied using a central composite design (CCD) which is one of the most widely used response surface methodologies. The newly prepared heterogeneous solid acid nanocatalyst is easily separated and reusable for five cycles without any apparent loss of its catalytic activity, which confirmed the stability of the covalent bonding of the sulfonic acid groups. n-ZrSA has advantages such as its low cost, low toxicity, ease of preparation, good stability, high reusability and operational simplicity.
