Formaldehyde Acetals and Polyoxymethylene Ethers Derived from Hydroxymethyl-N-nitroamines
Reactions of hydroxymethyl-N-nitroamines with formaldehyde in the presence of sulfuric acid, depending on the acidity of the medium and its composition, result in formation of either formaldehyde acetals or polyoxymethylene ethers. In the presence of aliphatic alcohols mixed formaldehyde alkyl N-nitroaminomethyl acetals are formed.
