ETRIMFOS, also known as Etrimfos, is a colorless liquid with a melting point of approximately 3.35°C and a vapor pressure of 6.5 mPa at 20°C. It has a solubility in water of 40 mg/L at 23-24°C and is miscible with most organic solvents. ETRIMFOS has a log Kow value greater than 3.3, indicating its lipophilic nature. Neat ETRIMFOS is unstable and degrades about 40% in 28 days at 50°C, but its dilute solutions in nonpolar solvents and formulations are more stable, with about 5% loss in one year at around 20°C. It undergoes hydrolysis in aqueous media, with half-lives (DT50) at 25°C and pH levels of 3, 6, and 9 being 0.4, 16, and 14 days, respectively.

38260-54-7 Usage

Uses

Used in Agricultural Industry:
ETRIMFOS is used as an agricultural insecticide for controlling chewing insects in top fruit, vines, olives, and various other crops. It is particularly effective in managing stem borers in rice and insect and acarid pests of stored products.
Used in Pesticide Industry:
ETRIMFOS is also utilized as a pesticide, sprayed on plants and vegetables to act as an insecticide and protect them from pests.

Hazard

Toxic.

Metabolic pathway

Etrimfos is principally degraded in soil and plants via dearylation of etrimfos itself or by hydrolysis of etrimfos oxon to the pyrimidinol (6-ethoxy-4-hydroxy-2-ethylpyrimidine), further metabolism of which involves de-ethylation to a dihydroxypyrimidine (2-ethyl-4,6-dihydroxypyrimidine). In mammals both hydrolysis and demethylation to desmethyl etrimfos are involved in detoxification. Additionally, the ethyl and ethoxy groups of the pyrimidinol hydrolysis product may be hydroxylated and conjugated. Etrimfos oxon is metabolically highly unstable and is often not detected.

Degradation

Etrimfos is unstable when pure but dilute solutions in non-polar solvents and formulations are stable. Half-lives in water at pH 3,6 and 9 were 0.4, 16 and 14 days, respectively. Etrimfos is stable to light (PM).

Toxicity evaluation

The acute oral LD50 for rats is 1,600–1,800 mg/kg. Inhalation LC50 (1 h) for rats is >200 mg/L air. NOEL (2 yr) for rats is 6 mg/kg diet (0.3 mg/kg/d). ADI is 3 μg/kg b.w. The principal degradation pathway in mammals, plants, and soils is pyrimidinyl ester bond cleavage: the major metabolites are 6-ethoxy-4-hydroxy- 2-ethylpyrimidine and its further transformed products. Degradation in mammals involves demethylation to desmethyl etrimfos. The DT50 in soils at pH 6.8 was 3–10 d.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 38260-54-7 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 3,8,2,6 and 0 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 5 and 4 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 38260-54:
(7*3)+(6*8)+(5*2)+(4*6)+(3*0)+(2*5)+(1*4)=117
117 % 10 = 7
So 38260-54-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Investigation on the acylation of heterocyclic alcoholate anions with O,O-dialkyl phosphorochloridothioate in water solvent

Ge, Xin,Qian, Chao,Chen, Xinzhi

supporting information, p. 739 - 744 (2013/07/25)

The acylation of some heterocyclic alcoholate anions with O,O-dialkyl phosphorochloridothioate has been investigated. Higher yields and fewer byproducts were achieved in water at 50 °C by employing an effective phase-transfer catalyst (PTC) (benzyl triethylammonium chloride [BTEAC]), acylation catalyst (AC) (4-dimethylaminopyridine), and surfactant (sodium dodecyl sulfate), under weakly basic (pH 9.5~10) conditions. This reaction can also be applied to synthesize other insecticides with excellent yields.

Insecticidal composition for agricultural and horticultural use

-

, (2008/06/13)

A synergistic insecticidal composition comprising a nitromethylene derivative of the formula STR1 in which X is a lower alkyl group, a lower alkoxy group or a halogen atom, n is 0, 1 or 2, and m is 2 or 3, and an insecticide which is a carboxylic acid ester, carbamate, organophosphate ester or one of a group of specific compounds.
