- Chiral Lithium Amido Aryl Zincates: Simple and Efficient Chemo- and Enantio-Selective Aryl Transfer Reagents
-
An enantioselective aryl transfer is promoted using chiral tricoordinated lithium amido aryl zincates that are easily accessible reagents and whose chiral appendage is simply recovered for reuse. The arylation reaction is run in good yields (60 % average on twenty substrates) and high enantiomeric excesses (95 % ee average). This occurs whatever the ortho, meta, or para substituent borne by the substrate and a complete chemoselectivity is observed with respect to the aldehyde function. Sensitive groups such as nitriles, esters, ketones, and enolisable substrates resist to the action of the ate reagent, warranting a large scope to this methodology.

- Chiral Lithium Amido Zincates for Enantioselective 1,2-Additions: Auto-assembling Reagents Involving a Fully Recyclable Ligand
-
A methodology consisting in carrying out enantioselective nucleophilic 1,2-additions (ee values up to 97 %) from cheap, easily accessible, and never described before, chiral lithium amido zincates is presented. These multicomponent reactants auto-assemble when mixing, in a 1:1 ratio, a homoleptic diorganozinc (R2Zn) with a chiral lithium amide (CLA). The latter, obtained after a single reductive amination, plays the role of the chiral inductor and is fully recoverable thanks to a simple acid–base wash, allowing being recycled and re-use without loss of stereochemical information.

- Regulating the piezofluorochromism of 9,10-bis(butoxystyryl)anthracenes by isomerization of butyl groups
-
Isomers of 9,10-bis(butoxystyryl)anthracene (DSA4), including n-butyl, i-butyl and t-butyl at ortho or para positions, were designed and synthesized. All of them display an aggregation-induced emission phenomenon. Remarkably, it was found that isomerization of butyl endgroups presents significant influences on their piezofluorochromic properties. Thus, an alternative approach to design and obtain piezofluorochromic compounds is proposed here.

- Probing solvent effects on mixed aggregates associating a chiral lithium amide and n-BuLi by NMR: From structure to reactivity

An NMR study of a 1 : 1 mixture of a chiral lithium amide (4a) and n-BuLi shows that depending on the solvent employed (Et2O or THF) a mixed aggregate can form in proportions that are directly related to the ees measured during the enantioselec

- The Dual Roles of Oxodiperoxovanadate Both as a Nucleophile and an Oxidant in the Green Oxidation of Benzyl Alcohols or Benzyl Halides to Aldehydes and Ketones
-
One catalyst, two roles: VO(O2)2- reacts as a nucleophilic oxidant under acidic conditions towards benzyl alcohols. Altogether 15 alcohols have been oxidized, in the absence of organic solvent, in excellent yields. Benzyl halides are also oxidized by H2O 2 in water catalyzed by oxodiperoxovanadate and a phase transfer catalyst into aromatic aldehydes and ketones (see scheme). This reaction is the first green oxidation of benzyl halides.

- Photocyclization Reactions. Part 1. Synthesis of Dihydrobenzofuranols Using Photocyclization of 2-Alkoxybenzaldehydes, 2'-Alkoxyacetophenones, 2-Formylphenoxyacetic Acids and 2-Acetylphenoxyacetic Acids
-
Photocyclization reactions were carried out on 2-alkoxybenzaldehydes 1a-f, 2'-alkoxyacetophenones 2a-h, 2-formylphenoxyacetic acids 1i-l and 2-acetylphenoxyacetic acids 2i-m.Irradiation opf 1a-f and 2a-h in acetonitrile gave the corresponding dihydrobenzofuranols 3, 5 and dihydroisobenzofuranols 4, 6.Using carboxylic acids 1i-l, 2i-m as starting materials, decarboxylation occurred immediately to give the corresponding ethers 1a-d, 2a-e.Further irradiation of the solution afforded dihydrobenzofuranols 3,5 and dihydroisobenzofuranols 4, 6.Substituent effects on photocyclization and reaction pathways are discussed.

- The Baeyer-Villiger Oxidation of Aromatic Aldehydes and Ketones with Hydrogen Peroxide Catalyzed by Selenium Compounds
-
A series of organoselenium compounds was investigated as activators of hydrogen peroxide in the Baeyer-Villiger oxidation. As a result, a convenient and cheap method for transformation of aromatic aldehydes, having polycondensed ring systems or electron-donating substituents, and polymethoxy derivatives of acetophenone, into phenols was elaborated. This method utilizes hydrogen peroxide activated by areneseleninic acids, as oxidizing agent.
