Organolithium

Organolithium compounds are a class of organometallic compounds characterized by carbon-lithium bonds, where lithium is bonded to organic groups. These compounds are highly reactive and widely used as strong bases and nucleophiles in organic synthesis. They play a pivotal role in various reactions, including deprotonation, metalation, and the formation of carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bonds. Due to their high reactivity, organolithium compounds must be handled under anhydrous and inert conditions to avoid reactions with moisture or oxygen.
