As predecessor of Wuhan Youji, Wuhan Organic Synthesis Factory was founded in 1956. In 1994, it was made over and Wuhan Youji Industries Co.Ltd. emerged. In 2003, it became a private enterprise. It ranks among Second Grade of National Big Enterprises, top 50 taxpayer in Wuhan, top 200 taxpayer in Hubei province and top 200 taxpayer in chemical industry. Its total assets and net assets are RMB 350 million and RMB 165 million respectively. Its area of 93000 square meters. It has 1100 employees. Among them, 138 employees are graduated from colleges or universities and 73 of them has a medium or senior technical title. In particular, 3 technicians have been acquiring subsidies from government. It got the license for direct international business in 1995 and established Wuhan Organic Chemicals Import&Export Company in 2001. In 2002 Wuhan Youji Zaoyang Plant was founded. It also opens offices in Shenzhen and Guangzhou.

The company is engaged in food additives and intermediates for Pharmaceuticals, Pesticides and organic synthesis with a total annual output of around 100000mt. Its products are classified into more than 100 kinds in 5 series of Oxidization of Aromatic Hydrocarbons, Chlorination of Aromatic Hydrocarbons, Amination of Aromatic Hydrocarbons, special rubbers and other fine chemicals. Its mainstream products such as Sodium benzoate (532-32-1) and Benzyl chloride (100-44-7) are No. 1 in China and also one of the best in the world.

Wuhan Youji owns an institute specialized in organic synthesis and a R&D centre. Having applied for 2 patents, its ability of R&D on basis of its own intellectual property rights is getting stronger and stronger. Wuhan Youji  has completed supply system of city water, heat ,wind, cooling water and GC and HPLC, widely used new materials and advanced technologies in production process, such as titanium alloy, Fieldbus Control System, absorbing with activated carbon fabrics, etc.
