Properties:
Yellowish-white, viscous mass. Insoluble in water; soluble in alcohol, benzene, ether, oil, and turpentine. Combustible.
Derivation:
By heating aluminum hydroxide, water, and oleic acid. The resultant mixture is filtered and dried.
Use:
Waterproofing, drier for paints, etc.; thickener for lubricating oils; medicine; as lacquer for metals; lubricant for plastics; food additive.
