A compound usually classed as a pharmaceutical that inhibits or prevents nausea. A well-known type is dimenhydrinate (“Dramamine”) which is useful to counteract motion sickness, nausea due to pregnancy, etc. A more recent antiemetic is a benzoquinolizine derivative used for nausea resulting from anesthesia (“Emete-con” [Pfizer]).
