    Properties:
    White flakes or crystals; odorless. Becomes yellow on exposure to air and light. Occurs in two allotropic forms. D (α) 5.67, (β) 5.30; mp (α) 388C, (β) 404C; bp (α) 796C. Soluble in water, alcohol, ether, acetone, ammonia, and acids.
     
    Derivation:
    By the action of hydriodic acid on cadmium oxide.

    Photography, process engraving and lithography, analytical chemistry, electroplating, lubricants, phosphors, nematocide.
