Fixing Agent, Perfume

    Name:
    Fixing Agent, Perfume
    Detailed information:
(fixative). A substance that prevents too rapid volatilization of the components of a perfume and tends to equalize their rates of volatilization. It thus increases the odor life of a perfume and keeps the odor unchanged. For many years, the chief fixatives were animal products (ambergris, civet, musk, castoreum), but these have been largely replaced by synthetics.See Perfume.
