One of several mixtures of sodium formaldehyde hydrosulfite and sodium formaldehyde bisulfite used as discharges and stripping or reducing agents in dyeing and other textile operations. In some cases the zinc derivatives are used. Derivation is by the action of formaldehyde on aqueous sodium hydrosulfite or from zinc, formaldehyde, sulfur dioxide, and sodium hydroxide.
