Yellow powder. D 5.9, mp 1060–1070C. Soluble in nitric acid; insoluble in water and alcohol. Noncombustible.
Derivation:
By adding a solution of lead nitrate to a solution of ammonium molybdate, concentration, and crystallization.
Hazard:
Toxic material. TLV: 0.15 mg(Pb)/m3.
Use:
Analytical chemistry, pigments. Single crystals are available for electronic and optical uses.
