(1919– ). An American chemist who won the Nobel Prize for chemistry in 1976 for his studies on the structure and bonding mechanisms of boranes. Much of the research concerned structure and function of enzymes and natural products in organic and theoretical chemistry. He studied at the Universities of Kentucky, California, and Minnesota.
