White to slightly yellow, hygroscopic powder; practically odorless. Oxidizes upon prolonged exposure to air and acquires a blue or pink color. Melts within a range of three degrees between 172 and 182C, pH of 5% solution between 4.2–5.2. Soluble in water and alcohol. Insoluble in benzene.
