    A mixture of hydrocarbon gases (and often some sulfur compounds) produced in large-scale cracking and refining of petroleum. The usual components are hydrogen, methane, ethane, propane, butanes, pentanes, ethylene, propylene, butenes, pentenes, and small amounts of other components such as butadiene.
    Use:
    Source of raw material for petrochemicals, high-octane gasoline, and organic synthesis of alcohols.
