An extrusion device shaped somewhat like a thimble and containing a number of holes of exceedingly small diameter through which are forced solutions of viscose rayon, nylon, molten glass, and various other materials. It is made of precious metals such as gold or platinum. Spinnerets enable extrusion of filaments of one denier or less, one-denier filament has a diameter of 40 µm.
