Derivation:
Gases containing appreciable content of cis-butene-2, along with other butene and butane hydrocarbons, are obtained by fractional distillation of refinery gas.
Grade:
Technical 95%, CP 99%, research 99.8%.
Hazard:
Asphyxiant gas. Highly flammable. Flammable limits in air 1.8–9.7% by volume. Dangerous fire and explosion risk.
Use:
Solvent, cross-linking agent, polymerization of gasoline, butadiene synthesis, synthesis of C4 and C5 derivatives.
