OClO. On the basis of our experimental results,
the atmospheric lifetime of OClO due to the NO
attack will be about 1.2 h assuming an average NO
concentration of 4 Â 10 molecule cm in the
polar area. Thus it is expected that reactions (7)
and (6) may be more important than reaction (4)
in accounting for the observation of anti-corre-

by NASA kinetic data review panel on the
basis of a kinetic measurement at 298 K. The
negative temperature dependence of rate constant
for the reaction of OClO with NO is comparable
to that for the reaction of OBrO + NO. Finally,
kinetic results from the present study suggest that
the reaction of OClO with NO may take place at
low temperature atmosphere in the polar areas,
but would not be able to account for the obser-
vation of anti-correlated atmospheric abundance
