In conclusion, nano-rods ZnO was obtained by a simple and use-
ful method and characterized in terms of its structural aspects. This
catalyst is very active heterogeneous catalyst in the preparation of
3-indolyl-3-hydroxy oxindoles. Various isatins and indoles reacted
with each other at 80 ◦C to yield the corresponding 3-indolyl-3-
hydroxy oxindoles in good to high yields. The catalyst can be readily
recovered and reused.
