  • General Description 2,5,8,11-Tetra-tert-butylperylene (TTBP) is a perylene derivative that retains monomeric fluorescence properties even at high concentrations, unlike other perylene-based chromophores that form excimers. Its absorption and fluorescence spectra resemble those of perylene, with minimal solvent polarity effects. However, at elevated concentrations or in neat solids, TTBP exhibits accelerated nonradiative decay and photobleaching, limiting its utility in highly concentrated dye-doped systems. It demonstrates stable fluorescence lineshapes but reduced decay times in polymer matrices, making it a potential candidate for applications requiring concentrated yet unaggregated chromophores.
