A soln. of KI in a mixt. of acetone and water was added to a stirred soln. of PdPtCo2(CO)7(dppm)2 in acetone. The dark green soln. immediately turned red. Stirred for 3 h.; The solvents were evapd. in vac.; The red solid residue was washed with water to remove K{Co(CO)4} and the excess of KI. Extn. with CH2Cl2 gave a red soln. After addn. of n-hexane, crystals were obtained at -20°C. Elem.anal.;

Solid NEt4I was added to a soln. of PdPtCo2(CO)7(dppm)2 in THF. The color of the react. mixt. turned from green to red.; The solvent was removed, and the resulting residue was washed with H2O and recrystd. from a mixt. of CH2Cl2 and n-C6H14. Purifn. by passage of its CH2Cl2 soln. through a silica gel column. Red fraction identified by IR.;
