  • General Description (1,2,5,6-Tetrahydropyridin-4-yl)methylphosphinic acid (TPMPA) is a highly selective competitive antagonist for GABAC receptors, playing a role in modulating inhibitory neurotransmission in the central nervous system. It can be synthesized via palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions, with optimized conditions involving Pd(OAc)2/dppp as a catalyst in refluxing benzene or tetrahydrofuran. (1,2,5,6-TETRAHYDROPYRIDIN-4-YL)METHYLPHOSPHINIC ACID is structurally related to GABA analogs, and its synthetic intermediate serves as a precursor for other biologically active derivatives. Elevated temperatures during synthesis (>70°C) may lead to undesired pyridine formation.
