1403-71-0 Usage

General Description

Hamycin is a commercial brand name for the chemical, bacitracin, which is a polypeptide antibiotic produced by certain strains of Bacillus subtilis. It is primarily used as a topical treatment for bacterial infections, particularly those caused by gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus and Streptococcus. Hamycin works by disrupting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, leading to the destruction of the bacteria. It is commonly used in veterinary medicine for the treatment of skin and wound infections in animals, and is also used in some human pharmaceutical products. While generally well-tolerated, allergic reactions and dermatitis can occur with prolonged use. Hamycin is considered to be an effective and safe antibiotic option for the treatment of bacterial infections.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 1403-71-0 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 1,4,0 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 7 and 1 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 1403-71:
(6*1)+(5*4)+(4*0)+(3*3)+(2*7)+(1*1)=50
50 % 10 = 0
So 1403-71-0 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
