The invention relates to a steroid compound and application of the same to preparation of a desogestrel intermediate, i.e., 13-ethylsterane-3,11,17-trione. The novel compound is prepared through oxidation, transposition, hydroboration-oxidation, ketalization and a lithium-ammonia reaction of starting materials; and then 13-ethylsterane-3,11,17-trione is prepared by using the compound, and the preparation process is simple, easily practicable, environment-friendly, high in yield, and suitable for industrial production.
