Mesomorphic 2-nitrophenyl benzoates and cinnamates as well as 4-cyanophenyl 4 prime -perfluoroalkyl-,4 prime -perfluoroalkoxy- and 4 prime -monohydropherfluoralkoxy benzoates were synthesized. The mesomorphic properties of the fluorinated derivatives are compared with those of the corresponding hydrogenous derivatives.
