A pentaaryldiamine-containing bismaleimide compound of Formula (I): is provided, wherein Ar1 to Ar5 are independently C6-C12 aryl, and Ar4 and Ar5 may be optionally substituted. The compound of Formula (I) is obtained by steps of reacting diamine with maleic anhydride in a solvent to form an amic acid, and cyclodehydrating the amic acid in the presence of a catalyst and a dehydrating agent. The compound of Formula (I) with a nonlinear and asymmetric structure is amorphous and is readily soluble in a variety of organic solvents, such that the toughness of the product made therefrom can be improved and processing of the compound can be simplified. Furthermore, the compounds of Formula (I) having cyano substituents on the aromatic ring may exhibit better flame retardancy and heat resistance, higher oxidative stability, electron-withdrawing property etc., such that these compound have wider application in industry.
