Uses

Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
Nifuroxazide is used as an antibiotic for treating gastrointestinal infections. It is effective against bacteria and parasites that cause conditions such as diarrhea, enteritis, and other gastrointestinal issues. (E)-1-(5-Chloro-2-hydroxy-phenyl)-3-(5-nitro-furan-2-yl)-propenone works by targeting the synthesis of bacterial proteins, thereby preventing the growth and proliferation of harmful microorganisms in the digestive tract.
Additionally, Nifuroxazide has been studied for its potential anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties, which could expand its applications in the medical field. Its ability to modulate various signaling pathways and demonstrate synergistic effects with conventional chemotherapeutic drugs makes it a promising candidate for further research and development in the pharmaceutical industry.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 104971-94-0 includes 9 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 6 digits, 1,0,4,9,7 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 9 and 4 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 104971-94:
(8*1)+(7*0)+(6*4)+(5*9)+(4*7)+(3*1)+(2*9)+(1*4)=130
130 % 10 = 0
So 104971-94-0 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

2'-Hydroxychalcone Analogs of 5-Nitrofurfural and Their Antibacterial Activity

Rao, Chebrolu Papa,Sundaramurthy, V.

, p. 447 - 448 (2007/10/02)

2-Hydroxyacetophenones (I) react with 5-nitrofurfurals (II;X=O) under acid-catalysed conditions to give 2'-hydroxychalcone analogs (III).None of these compounds (III) is found to exhibit significant antibacterial and antifungal activities except 1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-3-(5-nitro-2-furyl)2-propen-1-one (IIIa) which shows 100percent inhibition against A. niger at 10 ppm concentration.
